Language Laboratory

The language laboratory, located at G10, Pao Siu Loong Building, is primarily used for conducting interpreting sessions. It is also used for language teaching and learning purposes. The lab is installed with the Tandberg TLC-1000 system, which consists of a teacher console and 33 interfaced audiocassette listening/recording workstations. From the console, the teacher can distribute audio sources to students for interpreting or language learning exercises. The teacher console can also be used to control student recorders, activate random pairing or group conferencing among students, monitor student activity, and contact an individual student, group of students or the whole class.

The lab is also equipped with an LCD projector and other audiovisual facilities for viewing CDs, DVDs, VHS and DV tapes. 

Self-access audio materials with accompanying transcripts are also available in the lab for students’ free access during self-practice sessions.
