Dear All,

 

The School is going to hold an online forum this coming June where you can meet with each other virtually, learn more about useful tips for stress management and mental health and get in touch with our School graduate representatives who will share their job-hunting and working experiences under pandemic situation.

Event Schedule: 

 

Session 1 (16:00-17:00): Practical Methods of Keeping Mental Wellness and Stress Management in view of Pandemics

 

Guest Speaker 1: Ms. Joyce Li (Psychological Wellbeing Officer of Counselling and Person Enrichment, CEDARS)

 

Joyce works as a Psychological Well-being Officer (PWO) at Counselling and Person Enrichment (CoPE) Section of Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS). PWO will provide Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in a collaborative approach, to manage low to moderate level of the depression and anxiety of HKU students. She is also experienced in conducting group psychoeducation sessions on relaxation, adjustment anxiety, and sleep difficulties.

 

In her sharing, Joyce will introduce common psychological difficulties faced by RPg students under pandemics, talk about cycle between cognitions, behaviours, emotions, and physiological symptoms that maintains psychological distress, and share practical tips and resources for mental wellness.

Guest Speaker 2: Dr. Caitlin Chan (Registered Arts Therapist and Post-doctoral Fellow of Centre on Behavioral Health, HKU)

 

Caitlin is the Post-doctoral Fellow at the Centre on Behavioral Health, HKU. She is also a registered arts therapist (AThR) in the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA); and a professional member of the Expressive Arts Therapy Association of Hong Kong (EATAHK). Her research interests mainly focus on holistic wellness and arts-based research. Through the years, she has been actively engaged in arts-based research projects, aiming to enhance the holistic wellbeing of different populations, including children with mental and/or developmental disorders. 

 

In this sharing, you will learn about expressive arts therapy and understand how arts-making process can help relieve stress. You can also practise how to use different art forms (e.g. music, visual art, dance, games, etc.) to express and understand thoughts and feelings. 

 

Requirements: 

1) Arts training is NOT required.

2) Comfortable clothing is preferred.
