Abstract:

The canonization of the Spring and Autumn Annals during the Han Dynasty gave rise to a wealth of interpretations and intense debates, yielding discursive landscapes characterized by multidimensional interactions among issues such as authorship, rhetoric, media, hermeneutics, institution, historiography, and power. From the perspective of comparative poetics, “Authorship” and the Discursive Formation of Imperial Authority revisits this highly charged historical theater through the prism of global canonical studies and relevant theoretical resources.
