摘要 Abstract:

Yao, Shun, and Yu have long been revered as sage kings across premodern East Asia. This talk explores how their cultural memory was constructed in Shanxi from the Warring States to the Tang periods. By analyzing pre-Qin texts and key geographical records, I trace how Shanxi became central to remembering these figures. The study argues that cultural memory actively shaped the significance of place, rather than simply preserving historical traces.
