Chinese Philosophy

Chris Fraser’s published work focuses on early Chinese philosophy, covering topics in philosophy of language and logic, philosophy of mind, epistemology, action theory, ethics, metaethics, and political philosophy. Of late, he has also been working on metaethics and political philosophy in Song, Ming, and Qing dynasty thought.

 

His most recent book is Zhuangzi: Ways of Wandering the Way (Oxford, 2024). Another recent book is Late Classical Chinese Thought (Oxford, 2023). He has a new translation of Zhuangzi forthcoming (Oxford, 2024).

 

Before joining the School of Chinese, he was Vice-Chancellor Visiting Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and from 2021-24 he held the Richard Charles and Esther Yewpick Lee Chair in Chinese Thought and Culture at the University of Toronto. Previously he was Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Philosophy at HKU.
