Tong King LEE is Professor of Language and Communication at the University of Hong Kong and Honorary Professor of Culture, Communication, and Media at University College London. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Arts (language and literature) from the National University of Singapore, a Master of Laws (Distinction) from the University of Edinburgh, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Translation and Interpreting Studies from the University of Queensland. He was Luce East Asia Fellow at the National Humanities Center, U.S. (2021), Lee Kong Chian Research Fellow at National Library, Singapore (2022), and IAS Fellow at Durham University (2023). Among the professional qualifications he holds include NAATI Certified Translator (Australia), Chartered Linguist (UK), and Specialist at the Hong Kong Accreditation Authority for Academic and Vocational Qualifications. The author of Choreographies of Multilingualism (Oxford UP), Kongish (Cambridge UP), and Translation as Experimentalism (Cambridge UP), he takes professional and academic interest in a wide range of subjects, including intercultural and nonverbal communication for global business; legal communication; World Englishes; translanguaging in multilingual and digital environments, multimodality studies, and intersemiotic and experimental translation.
